Welcome to Walters State’s Password Guide. Use this guide as a comprehensive list of the services at Walters State that need credentials and information on how to log in to them successfully. For more information, please contact the Walters State Help Desk at x2742.

Walters State ID

This username usually comprises of at least your first initial, middle initial and last name. Some users have a digit at the end of their username.

The password will have at least 8 characters in length

For returning and current users, you can reset your password and/or activate your account at this page.

If this does not work, please contact the HelpDesk.

Passwords must be changed every 60 days (Faculty & Staff) or 90 days (Students).

StarNET StarNET ID

The username is your “W” number (with a capital “W” included followed by digits, i.e. W00001234).

The PIN by default is your six digit day of birth in MMDDYY format. You are prompted to personalize and change your PIN after your first login.

On the StarNET page there is a “Forgot ID” option. Enter your StarNET username (your “W” number) and choose forgot PIN to see your security question.

If this option fails, or you did not set up a security question initially, visit the Help Desk in person on your nearest campus with a valid photo ID.

This password expires and must be changed every 90 days.

Login to StarNET->Click on Personal Information->Click on “Change Your Pin”

These credentials are controlled solely by the student end-user and Pearson, INC. We at Walters State have no ability to assist the student in logging in, changing, or resetting passwords to the Pearson products.

SchoolMessenger SchoolMessenger ID

The username is the account e-mail that you entered during the account creation process. It could be your Walters State or personal e-mail.

The password for this site is the password that you entered during the account creation process.

You can reset your password for SchoolMessenger at this page.

Whereas you are not required to change your password, you will need to keep your account active by responding to yearly e-mails sent to the e-mail account that you registered with SchoolMessenger.

To change your password, log in and choose My Account -> Change Password.

Banner INB (Selected
Faculty and Staff)
INB ID The username is supplied to you once requested access is approved. Oftentimes, It is either a “W” number or the same as your Walters State ID. For security purposes, users much contact the HelpDesk to have their password reset.

This password must be changed every 90 days.

Click “Change Banner Password” under “My Links”

EMS Campus – Event Management System (Selected Faculty and Staff) EMS Campus ID The username is supplied to you once requested access is approved. You will be given both a username and password by the Facilities scheduler. Contact LeAnn Long (leann.long@ws.edu) to have this credential reset. On the Desktop version, click in Settings->Change Password
Virtual EMS – (Selected Faculty and Staff) Virtual EMS ID The username is your WS e-mail address. Once requested access is approved, you will be given the initial password by the facilities schedule. Contact LeAnn Long (leann.long@ws.edu) to have this credential reset. Contact LeAnn Long (leann.long@ws.edu) to have this credential changed.

Institutional Mobile Devices
iPad (Faculty and Staff) iPad Passcode AKA “Slide to Unlock” passcode

Seven or more alphanumeric characters.

May not have three or more ascending, descending, or repeating characters. (i.e. 123, 321, AAA)

If contacted quickly enough, the HelpDesk may have the ability to reset this passcode if the iPad has access to wireless internet.

Otherwise, the iPad may have to be reset to factory settings.

Institutional iPads must maintain a passcode.

To change, on your unlocked iPad, go to Settings-> General->Passcode Lock -> Change Passcode

iTunes Store Apple ID

The username of this account is generally a pre-existing e-mail address that you selected (perhaps a personal or your Walters State address).

The password “must be at least eight characters including a number, an uppercase letter, and a lowercase letter. You cannot use spaces, the same character three times in a row, your Apple ID, or a password you've used in the last year.” Apple

You may go to iForgot.Apple.com to reset this password. Apple will give you the option of two methods to verify your identity—e-mail verification or answering security questions. You may change your password and manage your Apple ID account at http://AppleID.Apple.com
